Camping and Lodging

It is very easy and safe to wild camp in Canada. Places farther from water will have fewer bugs. Try to pick a spot where you will not be visible to passing traffic and do not leave trash behind! Some towns have free municipal camping - ask locals for more info. Organized camping in parks or at privately owned campgrounds can be expensive, but along routes such as the Icefields Parkway, it is the only option. Some campsites charge per tent, not per person.

There are hostels throughout Canada and websites such as warmshowers and couchsurfing have hosts in many areas.
